Even if you don't think you're anyone special, your story may be exactly what another listener needs to hear!

Let's dive into the invitations from Brother Chad H Webb's October 2025 General Conference address, "That All May Be Edified."

Invitations

1 - "I invite you to consider the role of the Holy Ghost, specifically related to gospel learning and teaching in the home and at church."

2 - The most effective learning happens "when we, as learners, ... come prepared and ... teachers create learning experiences that foster personal revelation directly to our hearts and minds." Then, we "share what we are learning through our study and from the Holy Ghost, [to] help each other. ... Jesus Christ is the perfect example. He has invited each of us to be diligent learners and to take charge of our own testimonies. He invited His disciples to prepare to learn, to share what they were learning, and to act in faith."

3 - "[T]each true doctrine. ... rooted in the word of God. ... [D]on't sensationalize or speculate on what the Lord has not revealed. Instead, we [should] focus on essential and eternal gospel principles, which allows the Spirit to testify of truth."

  • Application Idea: Time tracking can be very eye-opening. If you haven't tried this before, you'll likely be surprised how you spend your time. If you're someone who likes to study the gospel, try this out to see what percentage of your time is focused on the "essential and eternal gospel principles" and whether you may need to cut back on the intriguing, but less important "mysteries."

4 - "The [Lord exhorted us] to study the scriptures individually and as families and to attend church each week to study His gospel. ... [S]earch the scriptures to understand the narrative, the principles they teach, and the application of these truths in our lives. ... Imagine Adam and Eve, Abinadi, or even the Master Teacher, Jesus Christ, visiting our homes or classes to teach us. They can when we feast upon the word of God. With consistent effort, we can learn to understand and love the scriptures and trust that they have the answers to the questions of the soul."

  • Application Idea: Try Brother Webb's suggestion by creating a consistent scripture routine and then go deeper by imagining yourself standing with the people of the scriptures as they teach you. You probably already do this when reading a good fiction novel. Why not immerse yourself equally into scriptural settings?

5 - "[S]peak more often and more reverently of [Jesus Christ] and seek more opportunities to express testimony, gratitude, and love for Him."

  • Application Idea: This doesn't have to be (and indeed shouldn't be) limited to formal testimony meetings, but that's a great place to start. We've been taught that often we gain or strengthen our testimonies by bearing them. As such, if we always wait for a prompting in testimony meeting to walk to the mic, we will rarely go up there and may miss growth opportunities and chances to share something we know that could answer someone else's prayer that day. If it's been a while for you, consider making a commitment to Heavenly Father that you'll bear your testimony ___ times this year, whether you're in the mood to or not. Treat it as an experiment upon the word and see what happens within you.

6 - "Even when [the Savior] is not directly referred to in a scriptural account, we can still point to Him as the example of the principle being taught. We might simply ask, 'Can you think of a time when Jesus Christ exemplified this principle?'"

  • Application Idea: Try asking that question in your next personal study or teaching setting.

7 - "We can also focus on Him by learning of His titles, roles, and attributes, seeking not only to learn what He has done but also to better understand who He is. ... Focusing on what He has done for us and what it says about who He is can help us have 'faith unto repentance.'"

  • Application Idea: Marking the various names/titles/roles of Christ can be a profitable scripture study method. If you want something of a head start, try President Jeffrey R. Holland's book, Witness for His Names.

8 - "As teachers, we can focus more on the learner's progress, on meeting their needs, and on helping them to develop spiritual habits of lifelong discipleship. As learners, when we exercise our agency in the learning process, we signal to the Holy Ghost our willingness to be taught by Him."

  • Application Idea: If you're a parent or a gospel teacher in any form, realize we can't gauge a child or other learner's progress or meet their needs unless we first make the effort to know the learner on a deeper level. That can be tricky if you're teaching a large class. In that case, you'll want to rely on the spirit to help you prepare and share what'll have the needed impact that day. For us parents, it's easy to become so busy that we assume any child not in an obvious crisis is doing fine when they're actually not. Do whatever helps them open up to you and listen without immediately suggesting solutions. Then you'll be better able to meet their true needs.

9 - "[S]ee our circumstances through the lens of God's eternal plan instead of seeing the plan through the lens of our temporal circumstances."

  • Application Idea: This seems primed for a pondering/meditating/journal session. Journal prompt: "What change would it make in my life if I saw my circumstances through the lens of God's eternal plan?"

10 - "It is by accessing His amazing grace through keeping our covenants with God that we can live joyfully now and prepare for life with our Father in Heaven in the eternities. As we learn to see Heavenly Father and the Savior in the scriptures, we will come to know Them better and we will see Their love and influence more frequently and more powerfully in our own lives."

  • Application Idea: As you read the scriptures, try pausing to ask, "what is God doing in this story?" Some passages, like the start of Genesis are obvious, but other stories focused on flawed humans could benefit from this question. I think we'll find this helps us spot Heavenly Father and Jesus more often in the scriptures, even when they're not explicitly mentioned.

Clay's Application: I'll study Teaching in the Savior's Way and be creative in applying it with my family and at church, including my two callings + ministering.

Mitch's Application: Following the guidance provided in chapter 30 of Teaching with Power: Drawing Your Family and Others to Christ by Tad R. and Kathryn S. Callister, I will more consistently participate in my church classes (i.e., sacrament meeting, gospel doctrine, and elders quorum). As the Callisters taught: "If we do not put anything into our Church classes or family discussions, we are unlikely to get much out of them. Suffice it to say, the learner has an equal responsibility to that of the teacher to contribute to the well-being of Church and family discussions."
