Hello, Doer of the word! Let's dive into the invitations from Elder Dale G. Renlund's October 2025 General Conference address, "Taking on the Name of Jesus Christ."
Invitations
"When we take upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ, we link our name with His. We identify with Him. We gladly become known as Christian. We acknowledge the Savior and unapologetically stand up to be counted as His."
Application Idea: Journal for 15 minutes on the following topic: "What would it look like in my life if I 'unapologetically [stood] up to be counted as [Jesus Christ's]?'"
"Remembrance means that we follow the advice given by the Book of Mormon prophet Alma. We 'let all [our] doings be unto the Lord, and whithersoever [we go, we] let it be in the Lord; … [we] let all [our] thoughts be directed unto the Lord; … [and we] let the affections of [our hearts] be placed upon the Lord forever.' Even when we are occupied with other matters, we remain mindful of Him, just as we remember our own names, regardless of what else we focus on."
Application Idea: In a fantastic May 28, 2025, Instagram reel, President D. Todd Christofferson shared how he prays for his day. In particular, he prays that he can represent the Savior well in all that he does. Watch this Instagram reel, and then consider how your prayers and your plans might become more Christ-focused.
"For us, the more we identify with and remember Jesus Christ, the more we want to be like Him. As His disciples, we change for the better when we focus on Him, more so than when we focus on ourselves. We strive to become like Him and seek to be blessed with His attributes. We pray fervently to be filled with charity, the pure love of Christ. ... Alongside charity, we seek, 'cultivate, … and expand' other spiritual gifts from the Savior, including integrity, patience, and diligence."
Application Idea: Complete the Christlike Attribute Activity in Preach My Gospel Chapter Six. Clay and Mitch also created a Christlike Attribute Activity Google Spreadsheet that you can utilize.
"[P]art of taking upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ involves willingly, intentionally, and enthusiastically aligning our goals with His. We join Him in His work when we 'love, share, and invite.' We join Him in His work when we minister to others, especially the vulnerable and those who have been wounded, shattered, or crushed by their earthly experiences."
Application Idea: At times, we may overcomplicate what ministering actually is. Mitch's father-in-law shared the following in a text message with him today: "Ministering to me is just loving people - everyone wants to feel love. I still have a lot to learn regarding ministering, yet I can love my neighbors / family for sure." Find a way to serve someone who needs help this week.
"[B]ecome more spiritually receptive. ... [H]ave more courage to confront seemingly impossible circumstances. ... [Strengthen] ... our resolve to follow Jesus Christ. ... [M]ore speedily repent and return to Him when we transgress. ... [B]ecome better at sharing His gospel with His power and authority. ... [H]elp those in need while being less judgmental, far less judgmental."
Application Idea: To "become better at sharing [Jesus Christ's] gospel with His power and authority," consider studying the following two resources: 1) Preach My Gospel: A Guide to Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ; 2) Teaching in the Savior's Way: For All Who Teach in the Home and in the Church.
"The Savior invites us, 'Come unto the Father in my name, and in due time receive of his fulness.' I urge you to do this. Come unto our Heavenly Father. Take upon yourself the name of Jesus Christ. Identify with Him. Always remember Him. Strive to be like Him. Join Him in His work. Receive His power and blessings in your life. Etch His name in your heart, willingly and intentionally."
Application Idea: Elder Robert D. Hales taught: "[W]hen we want to speak to God, we pray. And when we want Him to speak to us, we search the scriptures; for His words are spoken through His prophets. He will then teach us as we listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. If you have not heard His voice speaking to you lately, return with new eyes and new ears to the scriptures" ("Holy Scriptures: The Power of God unto Our Salvation", October 2006 General Conference). If you are not currently studying the scriptures every day, start today. If you already are studying the scriptures every day, "join [Jesus Christ] in His work" by sharing what you are learning in the scriptures on social media or in a journal that your posterity can read in the future.

Take Action
Clay's Application: I will listen through all of the New Testament's four gospels and the Lord's appearance in 3 Nephi.
Mitch's Application: In my prayers, rather than praying for GCA to succeed to fulfill my own purposes, I will pray that GCA will be a blessing in others' lives. I will seek to serve, not to be served.
Your Application: Reply to this email and tell us how you'll take action on one of these invitations and whether we can share your response in our newsletter, podcast, and/or on social media.
