Hello, Doer of the word!
*If you’d like to volunteer in helping us encourage more people to take action on inspired invitations from prophets and apostles, please reply to this email and let us know.*
Do you or someone you know have a story related to a conference talk or connection to the speaker? Reply and let's talk! We need all the help we can get to find podcast guests. We all have stories. Even if you don't think you're anyone special, your story may be exactly what another listener needs to hear!
Let's dive into the invitations from Elder Jeremy R. Jaggi's October 2025 General Conference address, "Humble Souls at Altars Kneel."
Invitations
1 - "[Build] an understanding of the Savior's eternal Atonement line upon line, precept upon precept."
Application Idea: To begin this challenge of a lifetime, study the Atonement of Jesus Christ (Overview | Gospel Study Guide) in Gospel Topics and Questions on the Church's website. Study all the scriptures and resources that are included on these two pages.
2 - "[L]ook forward to check-in connections with Heavenly Father."
Application Idea: In The Power of Stillness: Mindful Living for Latter-day Saints, the authors write: "Ever feel like you're missing out on the most important things in a day? You're not alone! Sister Sharon Eubank shared: 'Sometimes I am so pressed with everything that I have to do that I don't even know what the priority is. I've started asking the Lord every morning when I wake up, 'What is one thing you want me to do today?''" Start your day by asking the same question and listening for Heavenly Father's response. Then, at the end of each day, check-in with Him and report on how it went.
3 - "[L]ay the hard, the insolent, the violent, the furious, and the trembling upon the altars of the Lord."
Application Idea: In his October 2015 General Conference address (Strengthened by the Atonement of Jesus Christ), Elder Dallin H. Oaks taught: "Because of His atoning experience in mortality, our Savior is able to comfort, heal, and strengthen all men and women everywhere, but I believe He does so only for those who seek Him and ask for His help. The Apostle James taught, 'Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up' (James 4:10). We qualify for that blessing when we believe in Him and pray for His help." Are you currently trying to overcome "the hard, the insolent, the violent, the furious, and the trembling" all on your own? If so, turn to Jesus Christ today and ask for His divine help.
4 - "[Jesus Christ] invited His disciples, you and me, to the sacrament table to rest with Him there. When 'humble souls at altars kneel,' peace abounds. Our Savior's arms are outstretched; His table is spread. Come worship the Son of God at His holy altars."
Application Idea: In his October 2018 General Conference address (Becoming Exemplary Latter-day Saints), President Russell M. Nelson urged: "My dear brothers and sisters, the assaults of the adversary are increasing exponentially, in intensity and in variety. Our need to be in the temple on a regular basis has never been greater. I plead with you to take a prayerful look at how you spend your time. Invest time in your future and in that of your family. If you have reasonable access to a temple, I urge you to find a way to make an appointment regularly with the Lord—to be in His holy house—then keep that appointment with exactness and joy. I promise you that the Lord will bring the miracles He knows you need as you make sacrifices to serve and worship in His temples." Set a goal to always have an upcoming temple appointment scheduled on your calendar.

Jaggi, "Humble Souls at Altars Kneel" - Amazon Music | Apple Podcasts | Spotify | YouTube | Social Media Preview (Facebook | Instagram | YouTube Short). Clay and Mitch were joined by retired chaplain and founder of Veterans in the Wild, Brandon Harding. Brandon's chaplain experience and excellent stories tie in beautifully to Elder Jaggi's conversation with a chaplain about facilitating worship services for diverse groups and the centrality of altars in many religions. This episode touches on covenants, peacemaking, stillness, connecting with God, and much more. If you're a vet or married to one, be sure to check out the incredible backpacking experiences Brandon leads with Veterans in the Wild. You can apply here for the June 2026 expedition in Olympic National Park. If you'd like to donate, you can also do that on their website.

President Russell M. Nelson, October 2022 General Conference, Overcome the World and Find Rest: "A young boy in the family picked up on the conversation. When the tour group entered an endowment room, the boy pointed to the altar, where people kneel to make covenants with God, and said, 'Oh, that's nice. Here is a place for people to rest on their temple journey.'"

Take Action
Clay's Application: The General Handbook says we should consider the temple initiatory ordinances as part of the Lord's "endowment." Since we typically do them separately as proxy for others, that's easy to forget. I don't think I've done both consecutively since receiving my own about 20 years ago, so I'll commit to doing it once this year.
Bonus: Reread The Chronicles of Narnia series with my kids. Help the younger ones read the first page of each chapter like I did with the older kids.
Mitch's Application: I will complete The Power of Stillness: Mindful Living for Latter-day Saints and then identify one specific way that I will transform my prayers into a conversation rather than a shopping list.
Note: I finished The Power of Stillness, and here is the one specific way that I will transform my prayers: "Ever feel like you're missing out on the most important things in a day? You're not alone! Sister Sharon Eubank shared: 'Sometimes I am so pressed with everything that I have to do that I don't even know what the priority is. I've started asking the Lord every morning when I wake up, 'What is one thing you want me to do today?''" I will begin asking this question each morning in prayer for the specific group of people I'm focusing on that day, and then listen for Heavenly Father's response.
