Hello, Doer of the word!

*We are looking for one Administrative Manager who is willing to volunteer five hours per week for General Conference Applied. If you or someone you know is willing to join us in a big way, please reply to this email and let us know.*

Do you or someone you know have a story related to a conference talk or connection to the speaker? Reply and let's talk! We need all the help we can get to find podcast guests. We all have stories. Even if you don't think you're anyone special, your story may be exactly what another listener needs to hear!

REFERRAL PROGRAM. Between now and Christmas Day 2025, for anyone who refers five people to the General Conference Applied Newsletter, we will send you (by the end of 2025) the following two general conference invitations files: 1) A Google Spreadsheet with a tab for every October 2025 General Conference address; 2) A PDF with a page for every October 2025 General Conference address. You receive these files one page at a time in each of our Invitations newsletters, but this will package the invitations into one file, and you won’t have to wait an extra five weeks to receive the invitations for all the addresses. To receive this gift, here are the steps:

  • Reply to any Newsletter email (or email us directly) and provide the email addresses for the five people who signed up for the General Conference Applied Newsletter because of your referral (i.e., this only applies to those who subscribed to the Newsletter after 9:00 p.m. MST on Thursday, December 4, 2025).

  • As long as those five people are still active subscribers as of Christmas Day 2025, we will email your gift to you.

Let's dive into the invitations from Elder Ozani Farias' October 2025 General Conference address, "The Book of Mormon—an Immeasurable Treasure on Our Journey."

Invitations

1 - "I would like to offer three suggestions that can help deepen our conversion to Jesus Christ through a study of the Book of Mormon: 1. Be Diligent and Consistent in Your Daily Study. ... I promise that if you sincerely prioritize studying the Book of Mormon prayerfully each day, you will find greater spiritual strength and confidence in the Lord and His promises."

  • Application Idea: Apply temperance to your study by aiming for consistency instead of infrequent study binges. Prayerfully studying even for just 5 minutes 7 days per week is better than an hour once per week.

2 - "2. Make Your Study More Meaningful by Feasting upon the Words of Christ. ... To feast means more than just reading—it means savoring, pondering, and applying. As you study the Book of Mormon, consider ways to make your scripture study more meaningful."

  • Application Idea: Elder Farias suggested three applications:

    • Use study aids available in the Gospel Library app.

    • Identify eternal truths that help us understand God's plan and lead us to make and keep covenants with our Heavenly Father.

    • Highlight significant phrases and record your impressions to preserve what you have learned during your study.

  • Application Idea: In feasting, try new ways to study:

    • Elder Gong taught there's value in studying scriptures in multiple languages

    • Maybe try audio if you normally read, or vice versa

    • Incorporate faithful commentaries or manuals like Come, Follow Me; Institute Textbooks, etc.

    • Try video and other faithful media like the Church's Book of Mormon videos, Pablo Smith's graphic novel (videos, physical book, ebook)

3 - "3. Bear Your Testimony of the Truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. ... when we gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon, we develop a desire to share the joy that comes from knowing the gospel of Jesus Christ."

  • Application Idea: The strength of our desire to share the Book of Mormon is a decent testimony barometer. Give that some thought. If handing someone a copy fills you with dread, pray for increased courage, but also consider alternative ways to share the Book of Mormon. For example, in November, 2020, President Nelson invited us all to turn social media into a personal gratitude journal by posting about something for which we're grateful each day for 7 days. You could do the same with the Book of Mormon by posting favorite verses, why they matter to you, and your testimony that the words are true. This can be done anytime, but is an especially good fit during the Christmas season with verses focused on Him.

4 - "The Book of Mormon has the power to answer questions of our souls. As Nephi said, we should 'liken all scriptures unto us, that it might be for our profit and learning.'"

  • Application Idea: Try studying a favorite passage, but instead of reading it as somebody's else's story, step back and prayerfully look for ways it applies to you. One good method is to insert your name:

    • "And now, my son [daughter, Jessica], I trust that I shall have great joy in you, because of your steadiness and your faithfulness unto God; for as you have commenced in your youth to look to the Lord your God, even so I hope that you will continue in keeping his commandments; for blessed is he [she] that endureth to the end. I say unto you, my son [daughter, Jessica], that I have had great joy in thee already, because of thy faithfulness and thy diligence, and thy patience and thy long-suffering." (Alma 38:2–3)

General Conference Applied S6 E33. "Pro Animator makes BOOK OF MORMON Graphic Novel." Amazon Music | Apple Podcasts | Spotify | YouTube. Clay and Mitch were thrilled to chat about the Book of Mormon and Elder Farias' talk with our incredibly talented special guest, Pablo Smith, creator of The Book of Mormon: A Graphic Novel. After working in the animation business for over 20 years, Pablo decided to create a faithful adaptation of the Book of Mormon for his children. To make it easier for them to consume, he turned it into YouTube videos. To his surprise (but nobody else's), it's now taking off!

We talk about the power of scripture as first aid for anger or other emotions, the moral wrestle between self-sacrifice and fair compensation when creating beneficial religious content, a crucial decision Pablo had to make when assigned an inappropriate scene on his first day as an animator, and why studying the Book of Mormon daily is essential for spiritual survival.

Take Action

Clay's Application: I'll continue watching Pablo's Book of Mormon videos with my kids and discussing with them what stood out differently or new things they learned from the graphic novel format that they hadn't thought of or felt before.

Mitch's Application: I am already planning on reading the entire Book of Mormon in four languages in 2026. But in my study in English, my commitment is to identify and track the promises that are extended in the Book of Mormon, similar to what I've done in 2025 identifying precepts to abide by.

Reply to this email and tell us how you'll take action on one of these invitations and whether we can share your response in our newsletter, podcast, and/or on social media.

Thanks for joining us in becoming a "Doer of the word!" Please help others do the same by sharing this newsletter with them.
