In much of the world, confidence in the lasting nature of marriage is eroding. In the gospel of Jesus Christ, we proclaim that "marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God." We believe in eternal marriage, we teach of eternal marriage, and we seek an eternal marriage.

[W]hat about when our miracle does not come?
As we study biblical miracles, we see that not all lepers were healed, not all the blind received their sight, and not all who died were raised. Some were made whole; some were not. Now, as then, those who do not receive their miracle should not feel abandoned or lesser in God's sight.
The miracle we hope for may not come in this life, but that is not a sign of God's rejection, disapproval, or lack of love for us. Rather, He may want us to learn endurance, patience, trust, and understanding, "for God needs brave sons and daughters who are willing to be polished when in His wisdom that is His will." As we embrace God's plan to prepare us for eternity, we may at times need to exercise the faith not to be healed.
Meanwhile, let us not miss the miracles that surround us, including the miracles of the Restoration—the First Vision, the Book of Mormon, living prophets and apostles, and latter-day temple work with its sealing power. Let us appreciate the miracle that accompanies a mighty change of heart (see Mosiah 5:2), the miracle of repentance and forgiveness, and the miraculous peace that comes from the Comforter when heartache and disappointment enter our lives (see John 14:26–27).

Sometimes we hear of Latter-day Saints who have honorably concluded an arduous Church calling—such as a full-time mission or a heavy leadership commitment—and are now taking what they call "a vacation from Church service." If tempted to take such a "vacation," you should remember that this soon leads to forgetting gospel truths—such as the first commandment to love God—and it also leads to forgetting gospel covenants. Do not risk that.
When we persist in Church activity and service, we increase our influence for good with family and associates. Our light shines to influence those who see our good works. Our example will be powerful.
