Hello, Doer of the word!

Here is 1 invitation from general conference, + a recent quote from an apostle, and 1 teaching from the prophet…

1 invitation from general conference

My plea, inspired by Jonah, is forsake not your own mercy. You have immediate access to divine help and healing despite your human flaws. This awe-inspiring mercy comes in and through Jesus Christ. Because He knows and loves you perfectly, He offers it to you as your "own," meaning it is perfectly suited to you, designed to relieve your individual agonies and heal your particular pains. So, for heaven's sake and yours, do not turn your back on that. Accept it.

+ a recent quote from an apostle

My life was peppered with uncertainties, with difficulties, with anxieties. One day during our Sunday School class, Elder Stringham shared a scripture that changed my perspective of life and brought an infusion of light into my mind and heart. He read to us these words from Romans 8:31: "If God be for us, who can be against us?" I will never forget how I felt when, step by step, I came to understand the truth and the depth of these words. They have stayed with me ever since and have helped me in many of life's situations up to right now. I learned that no task is so small or so great, no trial of faith is so heavy, no situation is so dark or difficult that it can't be lightened and brightened by the brilliant light of Jesus Christ. … The Lord is always ready to strengthen us ... He wants to be with you. But if we want Him to be with us, we have to choose to be with Him.

1 teaching from the prophet

Personal disappointments should never keep us from the doctrine of Christ, who taught us to serve, not to be served. With this in mind, another member described the focus of his Church attendance: "Years ago, I changed my attitude about going to church. No longer do I go to church for my sake, but to think of others. I make a point of saying hello to people who sit alone, to welcome visitors, … to volunteer for an assignment. …In short, I go to church each week with the intent of being active, not passive, and making a positive difference in people's lives."
