Hello, Doer of the word!
*We are looking for one Administrative Manager who is willing to volunteer five hours per week for General Conference Applied. If you or someone you know is willing to join us in a big way, please reply to this email and let us know.*
Do you or someone you know have a story related to a conference talk or connection to the speaker? Reply and let's talk! We need all the help we can get to find podcast guests. We all have stories. Even if you don't think you're anyone special, your story may be exactly what another listener needs to hear!
Let's dive into the invitations from Sister Andrea Muñoz Spannaus' October 2025 General Conference address, "Prophets of God."
Invitations
1 - "We too can receive a personal testimony of God's prophets today and open our hearts and minds—our house—to the message that our Heavenly Father has for us in these latter days."
Application Idea: In early 2018, shortly after President Russell M. Nelson became the prophet, our stake here in Bluffdale, Utah, was split. The visiting general authority was Elder Michael T. Ringwood of the Seventy who is married to one of President Nelson's daughters. At the Saturday evening adult session, Sister Ringwood shared how she had recently listened to all of President Nelson's (i.e., her father's) general conference addresses. She then bore a powerful testimony that President Nelson was the prophet of God. If the prophet's own daughter felt that listening to all of his general conference addresses could help her gain a witness of his call as the prophet, then we could do the same with President Dallin H. Oaks. If you're not already participating in the President Dallin H. Oaks study schedule which we provide in our Saturday "Come Listen to a Prophet's Voice" Newsletters, there's no better time than right now to start listening to President Oaks' addresses.
2 - "Dear youth, I invite you to ask yourself this question: 'Do I have a personal testimony of God’s living prophets?'"
Application Idea: Set aside some time to answer Sister Spannaus' question in your journal: "Do I have a personal testimony of God's living prophets?"
3 - "When Christ visited the Nephites, one of the first things He did was call twelve Apostles. And He said to the people, 'Blessed are ye if ye shall give heed unto the words of these twelve whom I have chosen.'"
Application Idea: We provide links to the best resources that the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shared in the past week in venues other than general conference in our Tuesday General Conference+ Newsletters. Commit to clicking on each of the links in the next General Conference+ Newsletter that you receive.
4 - "Now, let me share a few words for parents or other family members raising children. The Lord Himself taught Adam and Eve the truths of the plan of salvation. And then He said to them, 'I give unto you a commandment, to teach these things freely unto your children.' What does it mean to teach freely? It is learning the truths of the gospel, having a personal testimony of them, and sharing that knowledge with our children. It is promoting both formal and informal teaching moments. It is living according to that knowledge and testimony. ... Parents, in this world where there are many voices and sometimes much darkness, God Himself has commanded us to raise our children in light and truth. He entrusted us with the responsibility to teach our children the saving truths of the gospel."
Application Idea: I was touched by this statement from a February 13, 1996, BYU-Idaho Devotional address ("Spirits Require Nourishment") delivered by Elder Dallin H. Oaks which I listened to last week. Elder Oaks said: "The parental examples that influenced me most were my mother's expressions of faith in God, her absolute support and total non-criticism of the leaders of the Church, and her faithful payment of tithing even when times were hard." Take some time to contemplate what you wish your children might say are "[t]he parental examples that influenced [them] most." Then, make the necessary changes in your life so that you can become that example for your children.
5 - "Dear young friends, I have an invitation for you: In the coming days, I invite you to kneel, open your hearts, and pray with faith to Heavenly Father, asking Him to confirm to you that His chosen prophet and apostles are His voice on the earth today."
Application Idea: If you are a parent of teenagers or currently serve with the youth at church, remind them of this invitation from Sister Spannaus, and invite them to take action on it. However, this invitation is not limited to youth. It would be even more powerful if we, as adults, committed to doing this for ourselves as well.
6 - "[O]bey [prophets'] voices with trust, faith, and hope. To listen to and obey the voice of the prophet is crucial to holding on to every good thing until the Second Coming of our Savior."
Application Idea: Pick one invitation from the October 2025 General Conference to take action on, ask someone to be your accountability partner, and commit to taking action by a certain date. Feel free to utilize the free Excel or PDF invitations files that we provide in our Sunday and Thursday GCA Newsletters (see the "Additional Resources" section below).
7 - "The Lord expects us to be strong in our testimonies, to be full of faith, and to repent daily. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, is counting on each of us to carry on His work."
Application Idea: If you're like me, you're tired by the end of the day... My evening prayers need some improvement! President Russell M. Nelson taught us of the importance to repent daily. For the next seven days, commit to ending each day in meaningful personal prayer, focusing especially on repenting for the sins you committed throughout the day. At the conclusion of this seven-day experiment, journal about your experience, noting specifically what you learned and felt. Then, recommit to another seven-day experiment and start the process all over.
8 - "'[Youth], shall we not go on in so great a cause? Go forward and not backward. Courage, [youth]; and on, on to the victory! Let your hearts rejoice, and be exceedingly glad.'"
Application Idea: If it's been awhile since you studied your patriarchal blessing, make time this week to study it again. What is it that the Lord has in store for you? What do you learn in your patriarchal blessing that can help you stay committed to Jesus Christ, His Gospel, and His Church? Journal about your experience.

Take Action
Clay's Application: Sister Spannaus recounted how the woman of Shunem and her husband made a guest room for the prophet Elisha to stay in their home. There's a lot of research about the benefit of dedicating certain spaces to certain activities to strengthen your brain's association with what is supposed to happen there (e.g., avoiding entertainment or working in bed improves sleep). I want to dedicate some corner of my home as my main gospel study spot and train my brain and spirit to seek heavenly learning and inspiration there.
Mitch's Application: My life has been blessed from Clay's efforts and my efforts with General Conference+. However, I'll admit that I haven't clicked on the links that Clay provides in his General Conference+ Newsletter every other week (i.e., the weeks that I'm not responsible for the Newsletter). Thus, starting with the Tuesday, December 16, 2025, General Conference+ Newsletter that Clay sent out, I will click on all the links in Clay's Newsletters going forward and learn what prophets, seers, and revelators are teaching outside of general conference.
Reply to this email and tell us how you'll take action on one of these invitations and whether we can share your response in our newsletter, podcast, and/or on social media.
Thanks for joining us in becoming a "Doer of the word!" Please help others do the same by sharing this newsletter with them.
