Hello, Doer of the word!
Let's dive into the invitations from Elder Brik V. Eyre's October 2025 General Conference address, "Know Who You Really Are."
Invitations
1 - "[W]hen we are confronted with the challenges of mortality or when we feel like anyone is trying to label us by our weaknesses, we need to stand strong in the knowledge of who we truly are. We must seek validation vertically, not horizontally. And as we do, we too can boldly proclaim, 'I am a child of God.'"
Application Idea: I love this idea from Sister Tamara W. Runia's April 2025 General Conference address, Your Repentance Doesn't Burden Jesus Christ; It Brightens His Joy: "As mission leaders in Australia, during our last visit with each missionary, we talked about 3 Nephi 17, where the people were close to the Savior and could hear Him praying for them. We asked, 'If you could hear the Savior praying for you, what do you think He would say?'" Answer this question in your journal, and then review your journal entry when you need the vertical validation that Elder Eyre invited us to seek.
2 - "Elder Patrick Kearon taught: 'Our Father’s beautiful plan, even His 'fabulous' plan, is designed to bring you home, not to keep you out. … God is in relentless pursuit of you.' Think about that for a moment—our all-powerful, loving Father is in 'relentless pursuit of you.'"
Application Idea: Do what Elder Eyre invited: for a moment, think about the truth that God is in "relentless pursuit of you." Then, write in your journal the impressions that come to mind.
3 - "Perhaps we should shift our mindset away from simply saying our prayers to taking sufficient time to really commune with and 'be with God' each day. … Whether it is in a closet or a bedroom, the principle is to find a place where you can be alone to pray, to allow your soul to be still, and to feel the promptings of the 'still small voice.' We can prepare by pondering on the things that we are grateful for and the questions or concerns that we would like to bring to our Father. We should strive not to have a rote manner of prayer but to talk with our Father, out loud if possible. … [President] Jeffrey R. Holland recently taught: 'However much you are praying, pray more. However hard you are praying, pray harder.' In addition to increasing the frequency and fervency of our prayers, studying the Book of Mormon daily and worshipping in the temple will help prepare our minds for revelation."
Application Idea: Commit to having at least one vocal prayer per day, preceded by quiet pondering.
4 - "We need to come to know [Jesus Christ]. [L]et us seek Him. Let us study His divine relationship with the Father and with each of us. Let us experience the song of redeeming love that comes personally to each one of us through our Redeemer as we repent."
Application Idea: "[C]ome to know [Jesus Christ]" by becoming more like Him. One powerful way to do this is by periodically completing the Christlike Attribute Activity in Preach My Gospel chapter six. If you're interested in completing this activity, check out this spreadsheet I built to make the Christlike Attribute Activity more interactive.

General Conference Applied S6 E66. Iranian In-laws, Deep Prayer, & Being Children of God - Elder Brik V. Eyre, "Know Who You Really Are"- Amazon Music | Apple Podcasts | Spotify | YouTube. Clay and Mitch were joined by Jessica Maughan, Clay's family friend and ward Relief Society President. Jessica helped us better understand Elder Eyre's teachings on prayer and coming to know that we're each children of God. We also went deeper into Elder Eyre's family background, including what his wife, Sister Susan Zari (Rahimzadeh) Eyre learned about prayer from her devout Muslim grandparents on her Iranian father's side. This episode touches on effective prayer, eternal identity, applying Christlike attributes, helping others, the Church Welfare Program, and much more!

Bishop H. David Burton, The Sanctifying Work of Welfare, April 2011 General Conference: "In 1897 a young David O. McKay stood at a door with a tract in his hand. As a missionary in Stirling, Scotland, he had done this many times before. But on that day a very haggard woman opened the door and stood before him. She was poorly dressed and had sunken cheeks and unkempt hair. She took the tract Elder McKay offered to her and spoke six words that he subsequently would never forget: 'Will this buy me any bread?' This encounter left a lasting impression on the young missionary. He later wrote: 'From that moment I had a deeper realization that the Church of Christ should be and is interested in the temporal salvation of man. I walked away from the door feeling that that [woman], with … bitterness in [her heart] toward man and God, [was] in no position to receive the message of the gospel. [She was] in need of temporal help, and there was no organization, so far as I could learn, in Stirling that could give it to [her].'"

Seek Christlike Attributes, Preach My Gospel chapter six
Take Action
Clay's Application: I'll work on having at least one vocal prayer per day, preceded by quiet pondering.
Mitch's Application: To better "come to know [Jesus Christ]," I will focus on one Christlike attribute from Preach My Gospel chapter six each week for the next ten weeks. Similar to how Benjamin Franklin tracked 13 virtues in his journal (one per week), I will track these ten Christlike attributes in my journal (one per week) for the next 10 weeks: Faith in Jesus Christ, Hope, Charity and Love, Virtue, Integrity, Knowledge, Patience, Humility, Diligence, and Obedience.
